Tribloos 2 Dev Diary – Part 13

I’m still making levels!

You may have seen my world trending (I can dream) tweet last week that I’ve finished more than 50% of the levels required.

With the risk of repeating myself – there are going to be 75 main levels, 5 bonus levels and (hopefully) a series of “challenge” levels for those of you who want levels that can be completed from several different angles to achieve better times.

But – you might ask yourself – how does Andy put all these levels together? Does he have some kind of super duper level editor with 1000 whizzy features that make level design a doddle?

Well…no.

I use Microsoft Excel. Continue reading

Tribloos 2 Dev Diary – Part 12

What week is it again? 12? Already?! Oh well, I guess the important thing is that I’m somehow managing to work on Tribloos 2 nearly every day.

For those of you keeping up with the twitter feed you’ll have noticed that I reached a milestone last week. Level 25, which is 1/3rd of the way through the game! Obviously this is just levels and doesn’t encompass all of the additional stuff that I’ll need to do in the polishing phase (which could last several weeks as it is!) Continue reading

Tribloos 2 – Dev Diary part 8

Development is a bit of a rollercoaster at the moment. Some days things seem to get done really quickly, then others reeeeeeeeaaaaally slowly.

But it continues to move forward and I’ve been able to spend some time working on the first bonus level. If you don’t want any (mild) spoilers it might be best to avoid this week’s post! Continue reading

Tribloos 2 – Dev Diary Part 7

Good morning everyone!

Firstly I’d like to say thanks again for all the feedback I’ve received from various people out there. It’s great to hear that I’m pretty much on the right track with the new game.

This week I’ve been concentrating on getting all of the levels for the first area finished. I’m sticking with 15 standard levels but the bonus levels should be a bit different to last time (as I’m sure I’ve eluded to before.) Continue reading

Tribloos 2 – Dev Diary Part 5

It’s time for some feedback.

I’ve been developing Tribloos 2 for a few months now and before I steam ahead too far past the point of no changes I’m really keen on getting some user feedback on the game as it currently stands.

This both excites and terrifies me!

Tribloos 2 – Dev Diary Part 4

Welcome to part 4 of The Tribloos 2 development diary.

I’m going to talk about something I decided on for Tribloos 2 which is probably the biggest risk I’ve taken with the game design so far. Continue reading

Tribloos 2 – Dev Diary Part 3

Today’s subtitle is: The First Levels.

The beginning of Tribloos 1 still bothers me. Especially that first level, it seems too dull and simple and cluttered with tutorial stuff.

Ok, I still need the tutorial stuff, and the conversation is all part of the story. But I wanted to avoid the first level of Tribloos 2 being about building houses. Instead I’ve gone for something a bit different to help teach newcomers the basic controls of the game.

Umbrellas! Continue reading

This week I want to talk a bit more about the advanced worker management which was a priority for me after the comments I received from the first game.

Tribloos 2 – Dev Diary Part 1

Hello everyone and welcome to a new development diary that will cover the stages of development for our next casual game title: Tribloos 2 (working name!)

Firstly, here’s a bit of a secret…I’ve been working on it for 2/3 months already!

I didn’t want to give too much away early, just in case I decided to cancel the project or put it on hold. However I can now say it’s going full steam ahead!

Read on for the full story… Continue reading

Merry Christmas Everyone!

2011 Has been an amazing year for us.  We’d like to thank everyone who has bought our games, everyone we’ve spoken to and of course everyone who has visited our website this year.

The Tribloos went on sale on GameHouse this month (that reminds me I must update the game page) and may find it’s way onto another portal before the end of the year. We’re also making some fantastic progress with new projects and I think we’ll have something awesome to show in January.

But since it’s only a week until the big day it’s time for us to concentrate on family stuff so all that’s left to say is: Merry Christmas and have a bloomin’ good new year everyone!
